We Are So Alike

by SingleWing   Apr 29, 2006

I know what you've done
It's like the sound of my gun
I heard you crying
Like the sound of my sighing
I know now what you've seen
It's like where I've been
I saw your flame extinguish
It's the way my life diminished
I witnessed you tightening your noose
It's like when I was let loose
I could feel you popping pills
It's like when I first saw the free hills
I was with you when you slit
It's just like when I was first hit
I was your wings when you jumped
It's like when I was no longer stumped
I was your finger when you pulled the trigger
It's like me, they no longer snigger
I know always what you feel
It's beside me, it's what I steal
I'm always your shadow
It's like me, when I was so low
I look back at you, I am your reflection
It's like mirroring me, us, the creation
The creation, the still point of the turning world
Like our future, we don't let it unfurl
We stop it right there, when we want it to
Like our destiny, me and you...

We can jump from the highest bridges
Swallow the largest pills,
Cut the very deepest
And squeeze the trigger hardest
It's like a calling,
Not a falling...............

I really liked this poem. It ends sort of like a cliffhanger like you don't know what's going to happen next. GREAT JOB!
