Just One Promise

by {Miss} [A][L][L][I][S][O][N]   May 1, 2006

As the flowers we set out for you slowly wilt
I am filled with the strangest feeling of guilt.
Like maybe I should have hugged you that day
Or better yet, warned you to look both ways.
It's a little late for that, I guess
But whatever happens, I know is for the best.
But now your on life support,
Machines fill your lungs with air
And I know in my heart
I need to be there.
By your side, holding you tight
Lying to you, everything's alright.
But instead I close my eyes to pretend this isn't real
I hate these feelings I'm forced to feel.
I know you're trying your hardest
Being all that you can be
But if you don't pull through this
Promise me
You'll wait for me.
