Magic

by my_little_secret   May 3, 2006

A year has passed.
Now never again will you live
A christmas, an easter
For the first time without her.

Do you wonder about her?
Do you wonder if she'd been planning for your birthday?
Had you been planning for hers?
Eighteenths, both of them.

I watched you yesterday,
Hugging those who loved her,
Consoling those that cried,
Feeling again how she'd died without fulfilling all her dreams.

I watched you say you hadn't wept,
There were too many people.
I watched you as you drank away the pain and kept that smile on your face.

I watched the boy that I once knew
And saw instead the man that circumstance made.
While you had her, she'd done you good
Now you've lost her...
It seems she's still working her magic.
