Soldier

by Cassandra   May 3, 2006

I'm on my knees once again,
My shattered sword cast aside.
Trying to win this battle,
Is like fighting with the tide.

With sweat stinging my eyes,
I taste the salt of my tears.
My body's sore and bloody,
Tired of battling my fears.

I lift my head and cry out,
A sound of utter defeat.
I'm willing to fight no more,
For promises I can't keep.

As my vision starts to cloud,
My mind slips into the dark.
My heart seems to beat slower,
Like an arrow found its mark.

My mind says the word "defeat,"
My heart tells me "don't give up."
My head is pounding harder,
From the poison in my cup.

I am ready to lay it down,
To give up all that I know.
If you want me Lord I'm ready,
Just come get me and I'll go.

But I know it's not the end,
My work here is not yet done.
Lord now I can see Your light,
Shining brighter than the sun.

I feel Your arms around me,
And you gently help me rise.
You hand me my mended sword,
And wipe the tears from my eyes.

I am a soldier of Christ,
And for ever shall I fight.
I will not be turned aside,
He is always in my sight.

I am a soldier of Christ,
And I shall never give in.
If I keep my eyes fixed on God,
And I know that I shall win!

Great job! I love this! God is always there with us in the midst of the battles throughout life. I think we often tend to forget that. The Bible says, "I will never leave you nor forsake you, even to the ends of the earth."
