A Rose

by Nicole   May 4, 2006

A single blood red petal
Drifts from a single blood red rose.
Rain drops trail down the fragile flower
As a slight fall breeze blows.

The rose enters into darkness,
The brooding sun is shrouded;
Like a pair of dreary eyes,
Its life-giving light is clouded.

The wind lashed through the air
Screaming with demonic mirth.
The rain fall heightened furiously;
Inflated drops plunged to the earth.

The weather suddenly stopped,
Faster than any words can tell.
The heavyhearted sun shone clear
Just as the final petal fell.

The wind ceased, the clouds cleared;
A bright new light was born.
But, such is life…
For even a rose is not without thorns.
