Sunset

by Josh   May 4, 2006

A brass bead of sunlight glitters behind the wavering clouds.
Bending azure into golden, fluted rays and casting them forward through faltering darkness
My breath escapes me as I gaze lovingly into the eye of God.
Stars twinkle in and out as the sun dips lower behind the hill, and the trees shine like golden statues, basking in their momentary glory while this day takes its last few breaths.
The heart of the world stops and all is silent when the light takes a final bow, then the sounds of the night shall applaud the scene.
