Beach

by Megan Kaye   Feb 10, 2004

The thoughts inside my head
whirl around like a sandstorm.
If I concentrate enough,
I can hear waves crashing against the shore.
The peaceful night,
overtaken by a monsterous wonder.
The staedy breeze
making life seem at such an ease.
The moonlight grasps you
insight of it's endless beauty.
You remember now why it is you came,
because this is where you escape the pain.
The unaccountable number of sorrow,
the endless battles yet to overcome.
The war within you finally breaks,
a simple teardrop slides down your cheek.
You cry for wonder,
and you weep for freight.
All the time knowing it might be out of sight.
You lost everything you had
it falling through you fingers
like grains of sand.
You desperately try to hold onto the hand
that seldom let you go before,
only now, shoving you out the door.
Angry words linger,
the friendship down the drain.
Words spoken, never to be returned.
Your heart felt betrayed and burned.
He left you there in his dust,
never again to have your trust.
When you look back onto the years
and realize how this was your only fear.
Of losing what you had
being mad,
and terribly sad.
You see forgiveness in the future,
because it was there in the past.
The love you had is gone,
but now rebuild,
it will be twice as strong.
You raise your eyes,
and glance to the sea.
Out over the horizon, the first of light.
And now you know, you won't give him up, at least not without a fight.
