Serious Times...*

We've come to a point in our time,
Where there is more fatal crimes.
Though they were there before,
They seem to just rise more and more.

We hear a lot on the news at night,
About all the killing and fights.
And we think to ourselves how to stop it,
Are we going to keep trying or just quit.

Our ears are filled with words about violence,
But from the mouths of many people is silence.
We need to stop this, stop this from spreading,
Do we want to help or is this what we're dreading.

Killing because someone was killed by a gun,
Being killed because you killed someone.
Is that really going to lead to peace?
Is that really going to make crimes decrease?

In schools, in the streets is where it takes place,
And rarely do we see all of this face to face.
This is the way people take out their anger,
Murdering their enemies and even some strangers

All this hatred and problems between different areas
Inequality continues to rupture and tear us
Why can't we all be equal like we're suppose to be?
Why can't people stop fighting why can't they see?

These people, our people need to look into a mirror,
Examine themselves and maybe it will come clearer.
That what they're doing is wrong and will never be right,
Causing all these deaths and people to fight.

We need to all work together to give this an end
Or at least cut it down because this is not pretend
We need to stop all of these violence and crimes
Because right now, these are serious times
