Nightmare Come Alive

by Lauren Waszkiewicz   May 7, 2006

I turned over, looked at the clock.
2:01 is what it seemed to shout
I woke up for a reason, I thought,
for a reason I would later find out

I couldn't get to back to sleep,
and I knew something was not right
I thought about the dream I'd just had,
The crazy dream I had dreamt that night.

Sure enough the phone rang,
Piercing the cold, December air.
5......8.....12 shrill cries.
Then footsteps down my stairs.

As my father headed back upstairs,
the hall erupted with light.
My mother asked what was wrong,
her face smoldered with fright.

It was the hospital on the phone.
And in my mind I somehow knew.
For in my nightmare something went awry,
And the thoughts I could not subdue.

It was a nightmare unlike any other
A nightmare I could never forget.
A nightmare of pain and distress.
In it my grandmother was dead.

So as I laid there on my bed,
listening to my mother start to cry.
I think of how it cannot be true:
My Nanny cannot die

Oh wow. This one made tears come to my eyes. it reminded me of when my grandmother died. Only I was there. But for most of the time she was in the hospital, I was home alone. I remember getting calls from my mom every hour telling me that she was getting worse by the minute. I love this one. You've inspired me. =]

Not too sure about this one. the mesaage isnt too clear and it seems to be a bit slap-dash. the rhyming is good but i think this could do with a bit of work to straighten it out.

I liked it, you got th epoint of the poem across and the flow was amazing. (Sorry if my comments are getting shorter, I have a rather badly hurt hand and it hurts to type, so I am just leaving basics and not long drawn out comments, such as this one)
