The Elements of Life

by Hayli Nicole   May 7, 2006

I feel this earth upon my skin.
The coolness holds me down.
A chance to escape the fast-paced life
to collect while no one's around.

I see the rain pour from the sky.
Forming puddles on my neck.
A time remembered being held so close
being reminded of self-respect.

I ignite the fire to keep me warm
As I search for internal flame.
It's a moment like this that brings me back.
some things won't be the same.

I hear the air surround my thoughts.
Singing the sweetest hum.
While in the midst of elements
...The simplicity of life has begun.

Great. I really enjoyed this. That last stanza was perfection, warm and moving. A quality write.
