Was She an Angel?

by peter   May 8, 2006

There she was,
I couldn't believe my eyes
How lifeless and cold she looked
Her wings now a dust of charcoal, from all corruption
Her skin now rigid like the desert floor
Her hair mangled in distress
Once magnificent, now tragic,
Eyes gleaming with hope, loses sight
She tried so hard, to breathe nobility into the world
But the men are greedy
Shouting for gold, shouting for silver
And they are dishonest
Killing the innocent, killing their will
And she has to pay the price for them
There she was,
I was in awe at how something so beautiful, became so tragic
As they profited
From lies, steals, dishonest, and evil
She was in her cage,
Curled into a fetal state, from all the torture
There I was, staring at her and her sadness
Wishing something could change
And then I saw, the cage was unlocked
