College Daze

These College days have come and gone,
And now its time to say so long.
We hold back the tears and try to smile,
And remember it was all worthwhile.
The past 8 months we'll never regret,
Even though some mornings we'd like to forget.
Playing drinking games until three or four,
Until we can't keep our eyes open anymore.
But the friends we've made along the way,
Have made a mark and its there to stay.
Some of us made friends; some of us met true love,
And some of us had moments they'll never speak of.
We get past those moments and continued our days,
Remembering it was all just a passing phase.
Cooking and cleaning had to be done,
Although you'd rather hire a maid and do none.
Learning domestic skills didn't come easy to us all,
Particularly when it came to the residence hall.
Waking up to find what damage we had done that night,
Was either a laugh or for most people a fright.
Security always watching for someone to break the rules,
And some of us got caught and felt like utter fools.
Lack of food and money had us getting loans,
Telling our parents were turning to skin and bones.
Trips to the grocery store were sometimes a pain,
Especially when it was pouring down rain.
Or when there's a fresh foot of snow and they didn't plow,
But we had all managed to make it back some how.
We can now look back at all the time we had,
Whether the times were good or the times were bad.
But the stress of doing homework is no more,
Instead there's a summer job to prepare for.
262 days have gone by so fast,
But we knew they would never last.
Many people will continue on to next year,
For a few of us our futures aren't quite as clear.
I look forward to the day that we'll all meet again,
Because I know in my heart, this isn't the end.
So no more doing laundry on pennies and dimes,
And here's to memories and all the good times.
