The Tears Of A Mother

The Tears Of A Mother

The pain in her heart remains in her eye
By the look on her face, she's ready to cry
Trying to smile but it just won't show
In her eyes I can see that she hasn't let go

While time drags by, she stays in the past
Grasping a life that just couldn't last
Kneeling as tears run down her sweet face
Praying to somehow take his place

She's missing his voice, she's missing his smell
Avoiding the spots where he used to dwell
She's dying a little bit more each day
As she thinks of the boy who slipped away...

There are no possible words to explain
The hurt that she feels or the constant pain
The endless heartbreak has just begun
For this mother who outlived her only son

Dedicated to Sherry Chynoweth:
In loving memory of Kody Chynoweth, 1980--2005
