Behind a mask

Behind my mask there is a girl
she hides away in the dark
her mind spins and twirls
the things that happen leave an invisible mark

she is scared of life
doesn't know what to do
she takes the pain to the knife
to her this is nothing knew

she uses it regularly every night to help her sleep
so she can disappear into a dream
she stands in a world of her own on a cliff so steep
she wants to jump wants to lean

but then just as she's about to let go
she is awoke covered in red
all over her body now she knows
how she longs to die in bed

so she thinks to herself ' what harm will once more do'
she thinks it is a task
but the thoughts spared for her are few
as she's the girl behind a mask
