Maiden fair

by BlueDreams   May 10, 2006

This then I saw this maiden fair
With flowing locks of sunlit hair
Her shadow dwelt then left my eyes
And I whispered softly, Alas, "good bye".

This shadow though had called to me
Yet it slides away so silently
That of broken heart and distance dreams
You were lost to me forever it seems.

In dappled light beneath a tree
Your vision came again to me
Then called my name and smiled so fair
And courage came from I know not where.

I smiled and looked into those eyes
And dreamt a dreamed no God denies.
We strolled below a sky so blue
Just one soul... to share for two.

Then gently... so softly... closer still
Our lips did warm the winter's chill
And struck by passion so intense
The love within we both could sense.

So loved and blessed have I been
When first your shadow I had seen
But age has wearied my sad heart
And now my love, is time to part.

Now death! But my love will long remain
For our love will never cease or wane
For I love you always as I loved you forever
And when life's reborn... I'll love you again.
