The last mile of the way

by Josh   May 10, 2006

We've walked this path all our lives
Through scorching fire and gnawing ice

I see that weary look in your eyes
You grow weak from the evil and lies.

Please don't give up, we'll go hand-in-hand.
Just a little further to that promised land

This hell has no doubt taken its toll
But don't you ever fall back in that hole.

When darkness stretches into the day,
Let me carry you the last mile of the way

I just wanted you to know
That I'll never let you go.

I'll stay with you, I'll keep you strong.
Even when everything's going wrong.

If you ever drop back into the fray,
Let me carry you the last mile of the way.

If those angels don't come when you pray.
When all your blue skies have faded to grey.

If you don't think you'll survive the day,
Just let me carry you the last mile of the way.

Aww... that is a really sweet poem and shows real compassion towards a friend. You did a great job on this. The flow and rhythm of it was really good and I loved it all. Great job!

  • It was good, not one of the best i have read but still good!! Parts of it left me confused!!Rhyming seemed a bit forced. I liked the way each stanza was only two lines rather then four!! Good word choice!!!! 4/5!! Great Job!!
