Listener

When I listen to the rain,
I want to cry in shame,
Let the dark clouds shelter me,
From the people who hate me,
When I listen to the wind,
I want to sing,
Let it blow through my hair,
Hold my lover near,
When I listen to the birds,
I want to be heard,
So they ask for silent peace,
So that I may speak,
When I listen to your voice,
I hear children rejoice,
They tell stories of youth and freedom,
They patiently await the Kingdom,
When I listen to my heart,
I think nothing could tear us apart,
As long as we have each other,
how could there be another?
