Trust Betrayed

Thought I'd try something new for a change,
Just for once stretch my wings from my cage,
So I let you guide me,
Let you be my everything,
Neglected my anything,
'Cause I wanted something,
But you had revengeful knifes,
Pointed at someone else,
But you must have slipped and fallen,
'Cause instead you pierced my flesh,
And like rain,
Out rushed clotted blood,
Clots that once,
Held so much love,
So now I'm cut and bruised and slit wide open,
Afraid that someone else could come at any moment,
But I won't trust as easily now,
Scared to the marrow that I'll bleed at any moment.

This is what I get for trying to spread my wings,
This is what happens when you open your eyes,
So now I have learnt to stay in my cage,
And this is what I get for venturing outside.
