There's a girl in the hallways
Who always stares at her feet
She never smiles or even speaks
Her eyes you will never meet

She doesn't care about style
Only about covering her self
She holds secrets underneath
And is as fragile as an elf

She's scared and so alone
She dreads every single day
Yet some find it amusing
To mock her in every way

On the sidelines she stands
And again is chosen last
Embarrassed she saunters over
And counts the time passed

This is only what you know
But what about under that mask?
Hasn't it made you wonder?
Do you bother to ask?

Everyone has their belonging groups
From tough athletes to nerds
She sits all alone though
And gives no explanation...in words

Under the baggy jeans and shirt
She bears many bruises and scars
She cuts herself in secret
Endures beatings from dad-held bars

After being laughed at
She just grins and walks away
But her feelings catch on eventually
Night is very different from day

Feeling like an outcast
Can frighten a person so bad
People are cruel...they don't care
That she is depressed and mad

If you ever catch her eye
Look at her through and through
If she says that she's fine
Know that it's not true

Just know that she hates herself
Everything and anything, fully
She abuses herself, scars herself
She is her own bully

She denies food and luxuries
Feels she doesn't deserve it
Only desires one more thing
To her skin, to make another slit

You begin to ask who exactly
Is the girl hurt and undone
I grin, and whisper to myself
It's me, I'm that one
