There is a girl
who sits alone
and cries herself to sleep
her soul is filled with pain
inside the cuts are deep
There is a girl
who cuts herself
just to make sure she is real
Reality seems fake
her scars just don't seem to heal
i stare down at this girl
i wonder why she cries
wonder why she hates herself
and wishes she could die
I tell her not to harm herself
I tell her to have hope
but she never listens
determined she cant cope
I remember this girl
from many years ago
before her sparkling eyes
slowly lost their glow
before her infectious laughter
began to fade away
she used to be so happy
in every single way
now she is but a shadow
of her former self
choosing to hide
swept away up on a shelf
as i watch her life
slowly drift away
i know there is nothing
i can do or say
i stare upon this girl
and finally do i see
that that lonely girl
is my reflection
staring back at me.
