For My Sons...

To my two boys i just want you to know
I really don't want to but i have to go
I gotta be leaving soon

Things didn't work out the way i had planned
And now your mama's not wearing her wedding band
It wasn't meant to be

And now I'm thousands of miles away
But believe me my sons, if i could have it any other way...

- I would be pushing you two on a back yard swing
- Playing all weekend , making a mess of things
- We'd be learning how to surf in Hawaii
- And tearing up the hotel in Waikiki

Don't think for a second that i don't love you

And it's killing me to know i can't watch you grow
But the Marine Corps said that it's time to go
And i can't tell them no

But if i had a choice i would stay right here. And i could wipe away both your tears. And Christian I'd take you to your first day of school. And make sure mom dressed you cool. And Wyatt my little baby boy, I'd help you learn how to work that toy. And I'd hold your hand when you took your first steps and be there to help you when you took the rest. And there's not one day that'll pass us by that I'm not wishing i was by your sides...
