Put My Love to the Text

by Timothy r   May 13, 2006

You say I am hard to read
But all you have to do
Is open my book and read the pages
To tell of my love for you

It`s a familiar story...
Told in a million different ways
A tale of love and heartache
Or so my dust jacket says

My book is 13, 000 pages
One for each day of my life
Leading up to this poem
Read about love, pain and strife

Each paragraph I write
Leads you to the best part
The chapter that is entitled
"You Have Captured My Heart"

My book will never make the best seller`s list
It was only meant for you to read
Years of hoping for our first kiss
But it was never meant to be

More years will go by...
You will remember this poem I know
Just think of me fondly
And the love I could have shown

It is then you will pull my book back down
From your dusty old shelf
And read again of my love for you
These words I wrote myself

For when I am gone...
My time here finally over
You will see my love in your eyes
From the reflection of my cover.

* I re-post this one every now and then, it was the first poem I wrote on here when I joined in 2002, it is still my favorite one and I hope you like it too. TS

I use the same style for my writing, so i enjoyed the similarities, but i really liked how u used a book to tell something different than the story...
    well written, keep writing

This is touching and filled with beauty, every stanza is greatly written.
I like this piece a lot, it sounds like it's written straight from the heart which gives extra intensity and effect to it.
You did very good job with rhymes too and made great flow in this piece.
    Keep up!
