A Letter to the Rain

by Arti   May 13, 2006

Pour down, smiling drops of joy
Sparkle your merry way down my face
Bathe me, cleanse me, gently now
Of the heat and dust that for months stays.

Heal the wounds of the parched earth
Mosaic of mud and earth she is left to lie
Give life to the dying slivers of green
That so manfully to live, try and try.

Twinkle your way into a childish palm
Gurgle your way into streams of glee
Enter the realm of song, beauty and dance
As you fall away into the waiting sea.

Wash your way up a swollen cloud
Then burst through the skies now, finally free
Play on the wings of the wind so wild
And then, dear drops, come back to me!
