My Life, On Standby

by Wasted Fake Smiles   May 14, 2006

The world around, so busy and full,
Full of excitement, and full of bull.
Actors saying their lines from the script,
The women tame, and the class clowns whipped.

I am on standby, waiting for my scene,
Waiting for my time, on the big screen.
Millions of bright stars, yet I so young and dim,
Millions of Cheerios, yet I left on the rim.

Just another face, on the crowd so large,
When will be my time to take charge?
It's my life, by me, just another girl,
Just another face in this popular world.

Just another girl, to be teased at school,
Where I'm a bystander, and I'll never be cool.
Just another heart, beating every second,
Just an ordinary girl, waiting to be beckoned.

It's my life, on standby, there's nothing to tell,
No point in trying, no reason to yell.
Just another girl, in a world of millions,
Just another blue in the box of crayons.

Waiting for my break, and until then,
I'll just be pushed and shoved, again and again.
I will wait, as long as it comes soon,
I want to finally be able, to sing to my own tune.
