A young girl barely 20, walks into a lonely place, snow crunches underneath
her shoes leaving solid footprints to her destination.
shadows creep forward onto her path threatening to block out all light.
Every bone in her body turns to ice..
she wants to turn back, but he's waiting..
through the fog she sees him ..a smile escapes her lips...
The wind howls around her like spirits throughout the night.
his worn flannel shirt does little to prevent the
violent shivers that coarse throughout her body..
she goes to him..
His hands like the wind whisk through her hair
and his kisses fall gently upon her cheeks and lips like snowflakes.
His arms provide warmth from the rigid cold,
and his voice is oh so gentle as he says..
come lay with me tonight
Laying her body down onto his, she can feel his heart beat slowly
wedding bands become one in the glare of the moonlight as
their fingers entwine together
Her hair falls freely ..now frozen to the dirt and weeds
bowing her head down she looks deeply into his eyes,
saying his name over and over again..
she finally looks up and her eyes meet the harsh reality of that name
her name etched in stone.
she tries to chip it all away , his name ,her loneliness, his goodbye..
she claws at the letters leaving her nails bleeding and broken
wanting more than ever for this nightmare to end and for their
future to continue together
her cries and screams interrupt the serenity of this place as she pounds
her fist into the earth he's underneath
her eyelids droop from weariness..

she gives into a peaceful rest at last,
using nothing more than their memories as a blanket..
his head stone, a pillow..
