The Accident

Driving down the road,
Me in the back seat,
Suddenly I notice something,
My heart skips a beat.

I put my seatbelt on,
Strap it on tight,
As the car swerves,
Driving into the night.

The driver is an idiot,
He can't control the car,
Then he panicks,
Now the wheels face the stars.

All I can remember,
Is hanging upside down,
Screaming my head off,
My head beginning to drown.

I can not stop screaming,
The image will not stop,
Witnesses pull over,
And start to call the cops.

Everyone gets out of the car,
I can not believe we are alive,
I begin to run away,
Before the cops arrive.

Then I stop,
I feel something run down my arm,
I see my blood,
And start to panic in alarm.

Why am I bleeding,
Is it my head,
No it is my shoulder,
My shoulder bled.

One of the others, Zach,
Took off his shirt,
I squeezed my arm,
Then it began to hurt.

Everyone gathers around,
I hear them say hold on,
We all begin to run,
We were long gone.

The cops arrived,
We were not there,
they found Zach's phone,
And began the nightmare.

They called my mom,
It was all a joke she thought,
But I was not aloud out,
So it is all my fault.

Now I have this memory,
That I can not forget,
I will have those scarrs forever,
The ones I will regret.

I was saved,
By my seatbelt,
Who knows where I would be today,
Or how I would have felt.

So I thank god,
That I used it,
If I did not,
Then this poem I would not be able to submit.

**THIS IS A TRUE STORY ME AND MY BOYFRIEND ZACH WERE BROKE UP AT THE TIME BUT AFTER THAT WE GOT BACK TOGETHER. I STILL HAVE THOSE SCARRS AND I STILL CAN REMEMBER IT LIKE IT WAS YESTERDAY.**
