He's Never Seemed So Far Away

And on days like this
He has never seemed so far away
The wind blowing against our backs
As we walk to visit our friend today
Never once have I turned around to look back
Not wanting to believe he's gone,
Knowing that I am saying goodbye
Not wanting to move on

I want his smile to come back to me
I want things like they used to be
when nothing was ever silent
I want to see his face once more
Coming through that open door
before it all was silent
He's darkened the entire world around
Now that he lays beneath the ground
if you listen he is silent

All the tears from that day
Could fill an ocean deep
As friends and family gathered round
And saw him in eternal sleep
Not wanting to believe
That he lays before our very eyes
A son, brother, and a friend
With eyes as blue as the sky

Wishing for something we cannot change
And not wanting to leave him behind
His presence that was once so big
Is now so hard to find
To say goodbye is the hardest thing to do
As we walk away from his grave,
He has never seemed so far away from us
As he does today.

Rest In Peace Jake...I Miss You More With Each Passing Day...It's Only Be 2 Months, Though It Feels Like Forever.
