Pretty make up and fairy tales Sparkly shoes and yards of lace and silk You curled you hair and tried not to cry as you saw how beautiful you could be All for a prince Who's not really a prince at all And even though the rain poured down, You made the sun seem to shine. You danced your heart out with your friends And hoped your prince would notice But instead he crushed your spirits And ruined your magic took the sparkle out of your eye. You stood out in the rain Hoping no one would see you cry As your dress got soaked and your make up ran down your face, Black glitter tears falling from your eyes, You tore off your fake nails letting them lay scattered around you trying to get rid of everything you think you're not. Yet through your tears and sadness Cruel thoughts running through your mind His picture glued to your memory, You didn't notice the boy who saw the sun through all that rain Who wished he'd had the courage to ask such a beautiful princess to dance It broke his heart to see her cry, He didn't know why. But he was too afraid to ask her Why it rained on prom night.
