Learn to let him go..

You're hurt because you lost a friend,
You were there for him, till the very end.
He died from an overdose in your arms,
With his love, you held in your palms.

You say you blame yourself everyday,
But it was not your fault, it was gods way.
It's sad to say but he is gone forever,
All you have is thoughts.. never to see him again.. not now, not ever.

It's tragic but you have to let him go,
Because now he is in a better place.. watch him glow.
There were reasons behind his death,
Each and everyday, he takes your breath.

There is nothing more you can do,
But you need to understand it's not your fault.. let him through.
With you holding him back.. he tries to tell you it was not you who caused it,
Let him reach the light.. you'll never split.

He can not be brought back from the dead,
'Just let me go.. I'll be fine' is what he said.
His troubles caused his reasons to be bad,
But it's normal for anyone.. to be sad.

You need to realize it wasn't your fault,
It just brings you.. to a complete halt.
Don't tear yourself apart for things that can not be changed,
It was others that drove him deranged.

You loved and cared for him like a true friend,
You were there for him, till the very end.
So don't bring upon self hate,
Because it was his future.. it was his fate.

My friend wittnessed her friend die in her arms.. he overdosed on alcohol and pain killers.. she called the ambulance and when she was taking him out he died in her arms.. she told me she blamed herself everyday for what had happened and I wanted to cheer her up..
