The Staircase

by Eman D   May 17, 2006

When my heavenly father made me,
he put me in front of a staircase.
He told me I have a choice to climb,
Or use this time to waste.

I stood at the bottom and put in thought.
I hesitated to take my first step.
I put my foot down on the first stair.
I continued on and released my breath.

Sometimes I wouldn't watch where I was walking.
There were times I would trip.
The times I wanted to go back,
I held the handrail in a unbreakable grip.

Slowly but surely I continued.
My objective was above.
Banished the thought of giving up.
Unbeatable is my faith and love.

I've met some people going the same direction.
Sadly some decided to go down.
I pray for those in need.
Pray to release them from being hell bound.

Someone special told me,
God will forgive no matter what.
Hes forgivin me for the times I doubted.
Hes always giving me the choice to go up.

My journey continues.
I wish for everyone to take this way.
Take advantage of this choice.
I'll be making my path up till my dying day.
