Left With Harsh Words

I can't believe you're really gone
It's hard to breathe knowing it's true
If only we hadn't fought today
I could have said "I love you"

When I said those words
I never knew this would occur
I thought we'd get over it in a while
Can't believe I was wrong, I thought was so sure

Sitting by your mangled body
I grab your rough hand
The monitors beep as you take your last breath
I fall to my knees, not being able to stand

Harsh words left us in despair
And now I can't take them back
Now you're gone forever
There is a hole where you used to be, that my heart will always lack

If only I had taken a breath
To calm myself down
I wouldn't be packing it away
I'd be wearing my bridal gown

I have a hard time standing on my own
Knowing that your death is my fault
I bawl as they bury your body
In an underground vault

If only sweet words left my mouth
Instead of the "I wish you would go to hell"
This wouldn't be happening to me
I wouldn't be saying my last farewell

"I just want you to know,
I'm so sorry that we fought.
It's my fault that you're gone.
Gosh, I love you, I love you a lot!"

I fall to my knees
In front of his resting place
How I would give anything in the world
To stroke his sweet face

But because of a conflict
I let cruel words pierce his heart
"Oh God, I'm so sorry!" I scream
And with those last words, I depart
