Second to Her

by Ashley Mullinax   May 17, 2006

I'll wear your sin
as a fashion statement
making it right
for people to hate me.

I'll pull this off
as the latest trend
while you claim
to be only my friend.

Saying you love me
only in the dark
out in the open
you only break my heart.

Stealing glances
when she's not around
taking chances
trying not to make a sound.

It's hard to hide
when i love you so much
so for every tear
i make a cut.

Empty promises
chased with empty lies
broken hearts
hidden with broken smiles.

It will be alright
or so they say
but what if alright
is too far away?

What if our happiness
will never be told?
what if i never
have you to hold?

Burn all the pages
that were never written
go back in time
before i was love-stricken.

I don't want this
it makes my heart sore
the gun whispers to me
"not anymore".
