The Future Will Come Too Soon

by Melanie   May 18, 2006

I want to wake up to yesterday
with your singing voice leading the way
Walking back down through the years
Retracing my steps, my memories in tears

Unwinding my life in clips and phrases
Snap shots of candid moments play like a movie in my head
There's no noise except for our breathing
entwined in perfect harmony to our hearts beating

I don't want to grow up
I don't want to leave this room
The world is a beautiful place when I'm with you
There's laughter behind everything you do
Don't say a word, that'll only ruin
Just hold me close and remind of the past
I know the future will come too soon

There's a pain deep inside me,
There's a scar on my heart from where you used to be
I pray every night for a time machine
That'll take me back to the days of our dreams

It was only us back then,
There was no hurt and there was no sin
There was only our love, simple and real
And happiness was the only thing I could feel

I don't want to grow up
I don't want to leave this room
Hold me close and remind of the past
I know the future will come too soon
