A Different Love

by LadyPearl   May 18, 2006

A love not for anybody in general, but something else. Tell me what love this poem represents to you. Home, family, friends, childhood etc..
-------------------------------------

Looming sun peeks from distant horizon
Misty mirage hangs mountain high
Tiny feet scuttles across a prairie land
Stumbling in a merry cry

Traditional robins mount upon a lonely tree
One of the few who feeds the Earth
Blue trousers uncovered by a child
His hair fed of golden mirth

Soft rippling of stream passes near
To a house of plainly painted oak
Where flowers sang to the sun
And drifting winds tenderly spoke

A ravine with it's wide opening mouth
Calls in a grandeur scenic view
While mother yells in her comely gown
It's ready to eat grandmother's stew

The child fumbles still for some present
As a gift of health for a cherished one
Embraces a splendid rock of lively green
Quickly then to the house he run

This perfect dream of delight flutters inside
As I turned the dusty pages carefully
Helplessly, a smile splatters upon my face
As I take my last laugh gleefully

*I will return favors if you r/c mine

I loved this poem, the images were so light and calm, it seemed to portray a love of nature and family but then this line
" As I turned the dusty pages carefully"
Makes me believe this shows a love of books, or the person is reading an old diary and is remembering the love of their childhood.
Many interpretations to this wonderful poem and that makes it exciting!

Wow, that painted some pretty vivd pivtures in my mind. It made me think of a childs love, for nothing in particular, just the love that innocence breeds. Great job on the poem, please continue writing!
