Think before you leap

by Wings Of Flames   May 18, 2006

My stems and roots dug up,
And snapped to take the pain,
My branches folding out to you,
As I glistened in the rain,

I remember everytime you said,
We are to never part,
I dont ever want to hurt you,
So thats why you're in my heart,

This is no poem of the love,
That he and I had to share,
It isn't about the heartbreak,
And how he didn't care,

Thus it is of friendships,
I had but were to break,
Alike the branches spread for you,
And the hits I were to take,

The stems portray my soul,
And how it was dragged to you,
Drenched in the wind and wet,
If only you ever knew,

The rain is of my tears at night,
I cried curled up to sleep,
The blanket hugging round my waist,
So the tears were left to seep,

But until they came along,
I thought I had it down,
My smile seemed more real,
And hands saved me to drown,

Then one day there was a whisper,
That told me of a night,
When I had 'love' and a new year,
I wasn't the only one to bite,

A friend of course is someone,
Who'd never take that away,
But of course its over now,
For I'm left to rot and fray.

My favorite stanza was the forth one, closely followed by the third. although, it my novice opinion, this wasn't your best work, i feel it was still a good piece of writing.
