Theft in the Morning

by Matt   May 18, 2006

Morning theft
Did pretend you had left
Around the hours of 9 and 10.

Previously I thought it would be me
Leaving with my silver key
To return to my berth for the days activities.

But leaving was not my way
As the light was dark that Monday
It was you who took the plunge.

The night previous was some feat
A kiss goodbye from every stranger I did meet
Then settling away to retirement with you

Against the door we kissed
A beat my pounding heart missed
Then lying down we dreamed of perfection.

Love brings us to who we need
A merry dance you did me lead
But I would have settled for no other vice.

But that stone set in your eye
As you left my heart did cry
How I will await your return

Did I give myself away?
On Halloween night that Sunday
Perhaps, but with a work of art.

You are a beautiful sight
Made my chance in the starlight
Meet me tomorrow night?
