I left that bar all sober and free,
My eyes are wide awake as i can see.
All my friends left that bar all drunk and sick,
They found a poor soul and started to kick.
The poor man started to bleed from the head,
I knew in my mind that soon he\'ll be dead.
Tears streamed from his face as he started to cry,
He said with his trembling voice I don\'t want to die.
They punched him in the stomach as he curled over,
I was the only one that could help since i was sober.
I ran in and leant over to him so see if he\'s alright,
They kicked me in the face and left the fight.
\"We\'ll be back for you\' was what they last said,
I looked back at the victim all bloody and red.
\'Thank you\' he said as he held my hand tight,
I know that deep down he won\'t live past this night.
A police car came roaring down the street,
He told me to go as i jumped to my feet.
I ran to my car and turned the engine on so fast,
Not knowing that being here will soon be my last.
The car wouldn\'t start as i just sat there,
I looked out the window and I became aware,
A car came speeding around the corner as i locked my door,
The driver\'s face looked familiar; he was in the fight before.
They were a metre away and i knew i was through,
I had no time to get out of the way, what should i do?
The next thing i saw was my mum crying beside me,
She started to wail \'She\'s going to die, how could this be?\'.
I\'ll leave this world knowing that i did a good deed,
But I\'ll be going without taking the people i need.
I\'m sorry mum i cannot stay awake,
Oh what a young life a drunk could take.
My breathing got shallow as i gasped for air,
I\'m in so much pain that i cannot compare.
The bleeding got worse as it trickled down my face,
Don\'t be scared mum, I\'m going to a better place.
She held me close and i whispered faintly \'please don\'\'t weep\'
My heart stopped beating when i closed my eyes and went to sleep
