Can I Have Some Room To Breathe?

by Daniel Puttee   May 19, 2006

------------------
I wrote this with my mum being my inspiration. She won't get off my back.
------------------

I'm not your little boy anymore
Your suffocation I ignore

Can you let me go tonight?
Can you let yourself alight?

Please, for once just leave me be
Your grip around me's tightening see

What if I was to grip to you?
You wouldn't like it, I know that's true

Can you stop it?
Will you drop it?
Just halt the charade
I know I've been played.

Will you ever let me be me?
Or must I be who you want to see?

Can I have my own life?
Or must you always land me in strife?

Leave me be
Or I'll leave you.
