Dawn Awaits

by Chris Grogan   May 19, 2006

My teeth I feel as I walk the night.
Forbidden to ever again see the light.
My blessing and my curse all rolled into one.
My thirst and eternal life, oh joy, how fun.
I kill to eat, but it's not so much different,
The cows and pigs you slaughtered were also innocent.
You call me Damned, but I am not.
You call me Godless, while I watch you rot.
Your crucifix has not the intended reaction.
For I love my God above despite my actions.
What punishment He deals out I will ride,
I have eternity, I take everything in stride.
You point a finger and ignore three pointing back.
You call me Devil's Child, why? What do I lack?
A silver cross hangs from my neck.
You're an idiot I'm willing to bet.
You have no wife, no kids at home.
Disease infests your body, you're going to die alone.
It won't hurt, just walk with me.
To God I'll send you, so you can be free.
My thirst quenched, dawn awaits.
Back to my humble abode, back to my mate.
I will outlive her, I know.
This thought depresses me as it begins to snow.
This is the way it must be, cruel as it is
She wishes to remain the same, when she goes to Him.
I will not deprive her of these wishes.
When she is gone, it will be her that I miss,
Her that I think of on long cold lonely nights,
Until we meet again in her next life.
I'll be home soon my lovely one.
I'll be home as soon as I'm done.
