The Abuse

by Raychil   May 19, 2006

She's in her room again
Her eyes, bloody and swollen
She can barely take in her breaths
Her life is slowly being stolen

Her parents are downstairs yelling
Her dad is drunk again tonight
Luckily her mother came home in time
Or she'd have lost the fight

She tends to her wounds quickly
Trying not to let out a scream
The bruises and cuts are deep
Oh, what will end this horrid dream?
--
He's breaking down again
He can't keep up this fight
Why did his dad leave him alone?
To deal with this every night

He hears the door open and shut
He doesn't move from his bed
He can't risk making a noise
If he moves, he'll surely be dead

He hears her coming up the stairs
He prays to God she'll walk on by
Just this one night without hurting
So tomorrow he won't have to lie
--
She's still in her room crying
He's staring at the door
More and more of her is dying
His fearful tears are hitting the floor

No one knows their stories
They could never let it out
As long as they bruises are hidden
There's nothing to tell about

Each night they suffer
Each day they live a lie
Smiling and saying they're happy
But on the inside they continue to cry..
