She hits the snooze button,
As soon as it starts buzzing
Right at 6:15
Sleeps for 9 minutes
And wakes up at 6:24
Rushing to get dressed,
To brush her teeth and shower
She leaves the house at 6:52
Arriving to school at a minute till 7,
Runs to her locker,
And gets her math book.
Power walking to class,
The stupid bell rings halfway there.
Prying the door open,
She's inside the warm room,
Away from the morning chill
At exactly a minute after 7.
She breaths a sigh of relief
Only to look up,
And have the class staring at her
The teacher glaring.
Getting to her seat
And whipping out her homework
She sits there and listens,
To the bald teacher lecture
To him shes nodding her head
In reality she's nodding off.
Jerking her head back up,
Every time his voice gets any bit louder.
Fearful of some terrible whiplash,
She holds her head up with her hands,
Tipping over to one side
She almost falls off her seat.
Shaking her head about a million times,
Using her fingers to hold her eyes open,
In fear he will notice she had tuned him out.
So at approximately 7:30
He finishes, and wraps up.
Homework on the over head.
Classmates getting paper out.
She starts to too,
And only finds the kind,
That have horizontal lines.
Needing a piece of paper,
With both directions on it,
She turns to ask a friend.
Only to remember the rule,
To not ask others for supplies.
Therefore at around 7:35
With her backpack on her lap,
Sneaking a look at the teacher,
Making sure he's occupied elsewhere,
She brings out a compact mirror,
And something called eyeliner,
If he asks what it is,
Then it's a black pencil.
Finishing her makeup,
At around a quarter to 8.
She grabs a notebook,
The kind with east to west lines.
Starts doodling and writing,
Until the bell rings at 7:55,
Walks out the door.
No homework done,
But with a page full of nonsense.
