Crumbs

by Jacklyn   May 22, 2006

Family and friends all cheered
as the little boy came prepared
With a bat in his hands, he’s ready
to hit the ball, just for his daddy

So young and yet determined
to run all three bases with his hit
Looking at the crowd, at his parents
this is the day he completes his dream

First pitch too low but he swings
one strike but his focus remains
second pitch produces the same
yet he receives encouragement

Third pitch blooms his sadness
trying to hold back all his tears
but once he sees his daddy in view
He crumbles to the words “I love you”

Oh, Jacklyn....you have a wonderful way of conveying these beautiful moments in poetry.
I love the innocence portrayed in this, it's so refreshing.
Take care and keep it up~Holly
