And Then Came the Rain

by Flying Phoenix   May 23, 2006

Sunny meadows, buttercups on fire
Beautiful birdsong
Long green grass as you wander through
Wetting your legs with its
Soft new dew

Twirling a daisy around in your hand
Lay down under a tree
And gaze at the sky
At the reforming clouds
And the meandering dragonfly

Sudden splash of cool
On your smooth warm skin
Sudden splash of warning
Of what was soon to begin

Drops come steadily
From the high heavens above
The gentle water
Falls down

Steadily it grows
A wind howling from the west
Clouds move over
The sunshine cut out
As the storm moves about

Flash of brilliance
Dazzling your way
As you rush off into
The field with the hay

Thunderclap of doom
And the torrents come down
Careering thousand droplets
Onto the ground

Shelter you did reach
But not before the rain
Soaked right through
A storm began again
