You Slipped

by heather   May 23, 2006

I trudged down that aisle
Desperate to run
I edged closer and closer
When the thoughts begun
You holding the knife
As i stared wide-eye with fright
With a scream I saw blood
And a pained look of sorrow
I moved one too short
As you fell into the puddle
Your eyes stung me deep
Like falling down a hill so steep
Then you slipped
A flash and i was back to life
Staring down at you
And your sewed shut eyes
I held your hand so cold and lifeless
And remembered my friend
Before all this mess
I cried whenyour hand slipped
And fell back on your body
The silence so deafening
You, so still and lonely
With just one last glance
I turned with a sob
For my friend that i loved
Left me the hardest job
If I just could have saved you
I'd feel less like sh*t
But this time i couldn't
You slipped
