Shards(first draft)

by Stumbling Shaman   May 25, 2006

Gazing at what's left of me in the mirror
The image I see makes the world turn cold
I ask my questions, but no one's there to answer
My eyes hold steady as another life unfolds
Tears well up, and I wonder why
Liquid shards revealing a mind displaced
Unmoving, unforgiven; spinning out of time
Staring back at world that has no face

Falling too far, I'm back into dreaming
Losing lives, inside and out
Can't believe, what I'm screaming
Dicing with demons, holding no doubts

Tearing at veneers, but the smoke's not clearing
I hit the floor, but there's nowhere to run
My muses call, but I can't hear them
Dawn returns but without the sun

Pay the fare, but I'm not there
The devil just sits and smiles at me
My soul is blind, I can't unwind
Don't you see that it's not me
Chasing thoughts, that can't be found
Heartless as I am, but still I bleed
Gazing, back at you
Heartless as I am, even now I bleed
