Keeping Strangers

by EpithetPoet   May 25, 2006

Filling up the emptiness with strangers
Conversation as shallow as my reflecting pool
But i lap it up and bathe in the dregs of my pain
Searching for the lips of the faceless romeo
A dream neglected by passion
And driven by tears and loneliness
Peeling off my skin to uncover Someone who doesn't exist
Someone who smiles at nothing
Someone who cries for everything
And hides behind her mask
Pretty, ugly, beautiful, homely
It doesn't matter what I'm called
But what i believe
Happiness, depression, joy, salvation
Come closer to me my prince
And love these tender lips
For not their symbol, but for their speech
And i will no longer keep strangers
But a friend
