City Of a Thousand Crimson Lights **Part 4**

It's amazing how fate brought them together that day
and kept them together for always
she could have been killed but instead she lived through it all
until their seventy-first year together
when she passed away
her ashes hung on the rear view mirror
in his beat up tow truck
as he went to tow another accident car
the memories of her raced through his crying mind
as he clutched the bottle of vodka in his old Grey hands
the yellow light was flickering but he did not care to notice
another car came speeding along
wondering when the old man was going to stop
it was not his right-a-way anymore
he slammed on the brakes
headlights flashed onto the face
the face of an old man so deep in love
that he took his own life, not willingly, not accidentally either
his breathing got fainter
as he died in the city of a thousand crimson lights that night
bottle grasped in his lifeless hands.

Kind of like history had repeated itself as he became the girl in the first part of the poem.
