What Will You Take With You

by bri   May 27, 2006

Take a piece with you if you must
Smile to yourself as you uncover the dust
Look back upon all these years
Look back upon all these shed tears

Look to the person beside you
Who do you see?
In about 10 years from now,
Who will they be?

Will they still be around the same crowd in the hall?
Will they even remember to drop by or call?
Will they be around for when those friends had a fight?
Will they be around for when those same friends hug each other tight?

Will they always be around when youâ??ve had a bad day?
Will they always be around and know just what to say?
Will they remember how slow the hours had passed?
Will they remember Mrs. Heilnerâ??s cow suit or the crickets invading her class?

Will you recall all of Mrs. Cordâ??s hilarious voices?
Will you recall every single one of your not-so-wise choices?
Will you remember the fall festival at our school?
Will you remember how much Mrs. Gaston said â??Isnâ??t algebra cool?!â??

Will you never forget the smiles all over this place?
Will you never forget every single friendly face?
Will you ever again sing our schools song?
Will you ever again feel like class is to long?

When again will you be able to complain about who said that or who said this?
When again you will you be able to say that Jr High is the place you truly miss?
Where else does saying â??lolâ?? or â??jkâ?? feel so right?
Where else can you always spot green and white?

Do you remember Mrs. Morseâ??s feisty, fun spirit?
Do you remember the 7th grade halls and how you used to fear it?
Will you recall our formal dance?
Will you recall this being our last chance?

You can listen to this now and wonder why
Why itâ??s so hard to say goodbye.
But the answer to that is not in the tears,
Itâ??s the memories of all these years.

These are the times that you will always remember most.
These are the times where you canâ??t let your memories become a ghost.
In life, you will always screw up and make a huge mistake.
And in life, you should always cherish every breath you take.

Youâ??ll learn through all the chaos and grime.
Youâ??ll become wiser and wiser every time.
These are the times you step away from the crowd.
These are the times you make you and your family proud.

Every one of us here has a story or two to tell.
Every one of us has a moment where we once fell.
But is it better to just lie on the floor,
Or is it better to get up and walk through the next door.

So now again,
Can you see?
In about 10 years from now,
Where will we be?

Remember today
Remember now
Remember here
Remember Santan, Our final year.
