I Am

by burning666   May 28, 2006

I am a young woman.
I am everything and nothing.
I am a blue eyed schoolgirl.
I am a pawn,
In a game called life.

I am all I see.
Smog masking the sun
A pool of moving water,
An ugly man made world,
Unknown actors smiling
With knowing, calculating eyes

I am all I hear.
Music blaring
From motionless boxes,
Young men burning
Unearned money,
Softly spoken lies uttered
Through formulated lips.

I am all I feel.
The silent chilling wind
Taunting me into submission,
Frail material trying to warm me
A mixture of untamed feelings.

I am all I taste.
Sweet toxic calories,
Sharp liquid relief
Contempt and loathing.

I am all I remember.
Separating my world into two,
Jumping into the oblivion
That is the sky,
Learning how to learn.

I am all I've been taught.
"Nobody is perfect"
"Everybody changes"
"Nobody's the same"
"Everybody dies".

I am all I think.
Confused and muddled
Clear and explained,
Secretive and closed
Willing and open.

I am like a rose bud.
Sheltered by innocence
Innocence that is starting to die,
Revealing my colour,
An unusual
Deep, blood red.

I am.
