With A Gun To My Head

by DaddysLittleDefect   May 29, 2006

With a gun to my head,
will you answer me this?
Why you thought it okay
to love with your fist?

I didn't make Dad leave,
I don't deserve your hate.
Mommy, why'd you hit me?
How much did you drink?

With a gun to my head,
will you answer me this?
Why you thought you must leave
for you to be missed?

You were there in presence
but Dad, you ignored me.
And when you left for real
came a sense of relief.

With a gun to my head,
will you answer me this?
What about me suggests
I'm fine to dismiss?

To you I was no more
than a waste of your time.
I know I'm hard to love,
but you wouldn't try.

With a gun to my head,
will you answer me this?
How things got to this point?
Why it came to this?

Is this what it takes
to get you guys to care?
I just needed a gun
to get you all here?

Now you're all staring at me
with the fear in your eyes.
Taken seriously now,
my life on the line.

I know dying alone
will soon be my fate.
You never listened before,
and now it's too late.

With a gun to my head,
will you answer me this?
If I pull this trigger,
will I really be missed?

...Best one I've read of your's so far.
This, my dear, is frikken amazing.
The imagery, the flow, the repetition, it all flows together to create the most moving piece...beautifully written and yet so heartbreaking to read.

Loved the repetition. Makes the line stand out and makes the reader think why that line is so important.
I hope the storyline is just made-up and not really happening in your life.
    Regardless, good work.
